Privacy policy
NTU Map is an independent campus map, not affiliated with NTU. This policy explains what information is involved when you use it. We do not require an account, we do not sell your information, and we do not use it for advertising.
1. Who we are
NTU Map (the site at ntumap.app and related pages) is operated by Finute Pte. Ltd. For questions about this policy, use finute.co.
This policy applies to the map and these legal pages. It does not apply to other websites you open from the map, including Nanyang Technological University, data owners named in the map attribution, or other sites operated by Finute Pte. Ltd.
2. No account
You can use NTU Map without creating an account, signing in, or giving us a name, email address, or student number. We do not run a user database for the map.
3. Location
The map asks for your location when you tap Locate, or when your browser has already allowed this site. If you allow it, the map uses that position on your device to show where you are and to give directions. Choosing Allow (not Allow once) in the browser dialog is what keeps it from asking again.
We do not send your GPS location to Finute Pte. Ltd. in order to run the map. Live campus information is loaded without your coordinates.
You can refuse the prompt, or later revoke permission, in your browser or device settings. If you refuse, the map still works. You will not see a “you are here” marker.
4. Information stored on your device
The map may keep a small amount of information in your browser’s local storage so the interface remembers what you did. That can include recent searches, a time-of-day preference, and whether we have already shown the install prompt. It stays on your device. Clearing site data in your browser removes it. We cannot read it from our servers.
5. Hosting and technical logs
The site is hosted by third-party providers. Those providers may process technical information that is created when your browser requests a page or a data file. That typically includes an IP address, approximate location derived from it, browser type, referring page, and the time of the request. They may keep logs to deliver, secure, and diagnose the service. We do not use those logs to identify you as a student or to build a marketing profile.
Our pages do not set advertising cookies. Hosting providers may set technical cookies that we do not control.
Visit counts
The map uses Cloudflare Web Analytics to count visits: how many pages were viewed, the referring site, the browser and device type, and the country, worked out from the request. It does not use cookies, does not fingerprint your device, and does not track you across sites. We see totals only, never individual visitors. See Cloudflare Web Analytics.
6. Third-party information shown on the map
The map displays campus information compiled from publicly available third-party sources. That can include maps, indoor plans, class times, live public transport information, campus shuttle positions, and parking occupancy. Those sources are identified in the map attribution.
When your browser loads that information, it is a normal request for publicly served map data. It is not an account login with those providers, and it does not include your GPS location. Each source has its own terms and privacy practices. We do not control them.
7. Links
The map and these pages may link to other sites. If you follow a link, that site’s own policy applies. We are not responsible for those sites.
8. What we do not do
- We do not sell personal data.
- We do not show advertising on the map.
- We do not run advertising scripts, and the only analytics is the cookieless visit count described in section 5.
- We do not use the map to send you marketing email. We do not have your email unless you contact us yourself.
9. How long information is kept
Information on your device stays until you clear it or your browser deletes it. Technical logs are kept by hosting providers for their ordinary retention periods, which we do not control. If you write to us, we keep the correspondence only as long as we need it to respond and to handle any related legal issue.
10. Your rights (Singapore)
If the Personal Data Protection Act 2012 of Singapore applies to information we hold about you, you may ask to access it, correct it, or withdraw consent where consent is the basis for use. Location permission is granted or withdrawn in your browser or device, not through an NTU Map account.
To make a request, contact us through finute.co. We may need enough detail to find anything we actually hold. In many cases we hold little or nothing that identifies you.
11. Children
NTU Map is a university campus map. It is not directed at children.
12. Changes
We may update this policy. The effective date above will change when we do. Continued use of the map after a change means you accept the updated policy. The current version is always at this page.
